Andrew Carey, Fleet 27 Captain, called the Spring Board Meeting to order at 18:00.
Members present were: Andrew Carey, Seth Sprague, Daniel Brouder, Pam Thomas, Scott Thomas, Ben Pollard, John Milburn and Chris Morin
The requirement for achieving a quorum was met.
Secretary Report: Review of minutes from the Fall Board Meeting; Motion to approve these minutes was unanimously approved. Point of interest is to email minutes to members as well as post them on the website.
Treasury Report: $3,053 current balance with an outstanding expenditure of
$2,000 for One Design chase boat
Several of the members present at the meeting paid their annual dues.
Race Officer Report: David White and Gretchen will be race committee. It is the responsibility of the fleet member, “host”, to provide r/c boat with refreshments.
Motion passed to present an end of the year Best Hosting Award for the best post- Tuesday Night Race festivity: (boat owner’s vote)
RC/Host Roster was handed out to members in attendance. If the assigned date is not convenient for you, it is your responsibility to change the date with someone else.
Members agreed that it is important to “get races off” but not at the expense of an extremely skewed starting line.
RC needs to be aware of the 18:00 warning signal, do not postpone for late comers.
Warning signal will change to 17:30 for the Aug 30 race.
Discussion: shorter races v. longer races
Members felt:
*Short first race followed by longer races.
*Shorter races but with multiple legs with the number of legs ultimately determined by wind strength
Seth shared concerns with the “type” of communication being made by RC.
Members passed the motion to allow boats that competes in the North American Championship to average their other Tuesday Night Fall Series scores for the two Tuesday Nights that will be missed due to competing in the NAs.
Weekend Series: how to get more participation:
Motion passed to create a Weekend Series that will consist of the following: Saturday (only) of the Pilot Race, the Schooner Trophy, and the Monhegan One Design.
Try an Etchells Day: sign up for a sail-to coincide with the SailMaine Open House
June 12th and with PYC TNR the 30th. We will need to wait and hear from SailMaine if they would like to do this.
Get a PJYC sailor on Tuesday draw name out of a hat.
