A night to be remembered

The Casco Bay Etchells Fleet is off to a roaring start for the 2010 season, with 11 boats on the starting line tonight, the second night of racing in the spring season. According to fleet treasurer Seth Sprague, this is was the largest number of boats to race together in Fleet 27's history. All of the boats were extremely competitive tonight as well as last Tuesday, with positions in the races shifting frequently, and the last place boat finishing soon after the winner. A nearly full moon rose partway through the second race, as the sailors enjoyed a particularly balmy May evening, with winds of 8 to 12 knots that held steady until lightening considerably at the windward mark rounding of the third race. The night of racing was won by VooDoo, followed by Schadenfreude in second place and Andromeda in third.
